Base Year
Last updated 19 days ago
The base year serves as the reference point used to track and compare greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions over time.
It provides a consistent starting point to evaluate changes in emissions in future reporting years.
Selecting the Base Year
Users can define or update the base year for their organization from this section.
To access this setting:
Go to Settings → GHG Calculation Settings → Base Year.
Steps to Update the Base Year
Select the Base Year: Choose the relevant year for your organization from the dropdown menu (e.g., 2024).
Click Save to confirm your selection.
If a carbon footprint record already exists for the selected year, the system will notify you automatically.
When Should the Base Year Be Updated?
The base year is typically kept consistent; however, updates may be required in the following cases:
Changes in operational boundaries (e.g., opening or closing a facility)
Organizational restructuring (e.g., mergers, acquisitions, divestments)
Methodological changes that require recalculating previous emissions data
The selected base year is included in all Audit Ready reports. Reports display year-over-year emission changes relative to the selected base year.
