Reduction Targets

Last updated 19 days ago

The Reduction Targets module allows users to define greenhouse gas reduction targets for their organization, monitor progress toward these targets, and compare emission trends across years. Once users complete their emission calculations, they can create strategic reduction plans and manage their sustainability roadmap directly from this module.

Creating a New Target

  1. A new target is created by selecting Start Defining a Target, which opens the configuration panel on the right side of the screen. Target creation follows a structured sequence:

  2. Target Name: A descriptive name is assigned to the target.

  3. Facility Selection: One or multiple facilities are selected to determine the operational boundary of the target.

  4. Scope Selection: The scopes included in the target are specified:

  • Scope 1

  • Scope 2

  • Scope 3

Sub-category–level targeting is also supported.

  1. BAU Change Rate (%) (Optional): If an organization has an established Business-as-Usual (BAU) annual emission change rate, it may be entered manually. Where at least three years of historical data exist in Carbondeck, the BAU rate is calculated automatically.

  2. Linked Year Configuration: At least one linked year must be defined to establish a valid reduction trajectory. Each linked year includes:

  • Base Year

  • Target Year

  • Annual Reduction Target (%)

  • Total Reduction Target (%)

Entering a value in the annual or total reduction field triggers automatic calculation of the corresponding field.

  1. Additional linked years may be added using + Add linked year to construct multi-period reduction pathways.
The Base Year of any new linked year is automatically constrained by the Target Year of the previous entry.

  2. Review and Creation: After completing all parameters, Next displays a summary for verification.

  3. Selecting Save finalizes the target.

Target List

Once a target is created, it appears in the Target List.
This view helps you quickly evaluate target status, progress, and performance.

List View

Each target card displays:

  • Target Name

  • Included Facilities

  • Annual Reduction Target (%)

  • Total Reduction Target (%)

  • Covered Scopes

  • Covered Emissions (%)

  • Target Status:

    • Aligned with Target

    • Invalid Target

    • Behind Target

This allows users to assess performance at a glance.

Target Detail View

Click the arrow on the right side of a target card to expand and view full details.

Displayed information includes:

  • Base Year

  • Target Year

  • Base Year Emissions

  • Target Year Emissions

  • Emission Change

  • Created By

  • Creation Date

The chart includes three lines:

  • Pink Line: Actual emission trend

  • Grey Line: BAU emission levels

  • Green Line: Target emission levels

This visual comparison clearly shows whether the organization is progressing toward its reduction goals.

Filtering Targets

To make target management easier, you can filter the list by:
