Production Routes
The Production Flows section enables production processes to be modeled as flow diagrams within Carbondeck.
Last updated 14 days ago
This structure allows production processes to be defined end-to-end, including inputs, energy usage, process steps, and outputs.
At the top of the screen, there is a Create Production Flow button to create a new production flow. In the lower section, a table listing existing production flows is displayed.
For each flow, the following information is shown:
Production Flow Name
Final Product
Facility
Created Date
Status (Draft / Active)
Existing flows can be edited or deleted from this list.
Creating a Production Flow
To create a new flow, click the Create Production Flow button. In the form that opens:
Enter the flow name
Select the final product
Select the facility
Optionally add a description
All products (inputs and outputs) must be predefined in the Products section.
After completing the form, proceed to the flow builder screen by clicking Start Flow Creation.
Flow Builder Screen
On this screen, the production process is modeled as a flow diagram.
Input: Represents raw materials entering the process
Energy: Represents energy sources used in production
Process: Represents transformation or manufacturing steps
Output: Represents products or waste generated at the end of the process
Connections between nodes are established using arrows. Input and Energy nodes connect to Process nodes, and Process nodes connect to Output nodes.
When needed:
Additional inputs or energy can be added by clicking connection points
Multiple outputs can be defined
Outputs can be specified as either product or waste
Outputs created in one flow can also be used as inputs in another flow. This enables interconnected modeling of production processes.
Flow Settings and Editing
By clicking the edit (pencil) icon on the flow, the following information can be updated:
Flow name
Facility information
Reporting method (Standard or Mass Balance)
Description
To add a new process, use the Add Process Flow + option.
Saving and Activating the Flow
Once the flow is created, it can be saved using the Save Route button. Initially, the flow is saved with Draft status.
To enable the flow for calculations, its status must be changed to Active.
Rules and Behaviors
Input and Energy nodes can only connect to Process nodes
Process nodes can receive multiple inputs and produce multiple outputs
Output nodes can only receive connections from Process nodes
An output can be used as an input in another flow
Missing connections are indicated by system warnings
